Note to parents:
Please check your child's work daily. Recently, some pupils have forgotten to complete their homework even though sufficient time was given for them to do so. In such cases, I will need your endorsement (signature) on the homework that were not completed. Thanking you for your kind support and understanding.
Hi Mr K,
ReplyDeleteThanks for these updates, they are really helpful and thanks also for responding to the other parents' request to have the Chinese homework listed as well. It's really helpful.
You're doing an amazing job with the kids.
Hi parents , any idea for the chinese vocab homework, should write the words 1st or han yu pin yin 1st ?
ReplyDeleteDear Ms Hafizah,
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know for the chinese vocabulary homework written on the exercise book, the child needs to write the chinese characters first and then leave the last 2 or 3 square boxes to write the han yu pin yin words. These information was given by my neighbour's daughter who is from Pr. 5C class (Ms Zhang was also their Mother Tongue language teacher), as sometimes, my son Ashvin, could not fully understand what Ms Zhang was telling them to do in class.
Warmest regards,
Mdm Lee
Dear Ms Hafizah,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that I have written the message address wrongly to you. It should be written to the Anonymous parent instead.
Warmest regards,
Mdm Lee
Hi Mdm Lee,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information nonetheless. My daughter, Huda, takes Chinese as her MT language as well and she has great difficulty understanding Ms Zhang. It has resulted in her losing interest in the subject and is affecting her performance as well.
It is rather worrying as I have difficulty communicating with Ms Zhang as she is unable to speak English. Just sharing my experience.
I wonder if the other children in class are having the same problems.
Hi Ms Hafizah,
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice of you to reply via this blog. It looks like Mr. Kamsari has such great opportunities for both parents and teachers to communicate here.
Yes, I am confident to share with you that my son Ashvin is also facing the same problem as Huda! I am certain that there are other students having the problems as well.
I do not blame Ms Zhang at all as it is not her fault in anyway. But I certainly feel that the school related departments' head should understand that when they were allocating Mother Tongue Language teachers to certain classes, they should bear in mind the students' abilities to grasp the teacher's accent and ways of teaching.
Warmest regards,
Mdm Lee
Hi Mdm Lee,
ReplyDeleteYes Mr Kamsari has provided a platform for us parents to communicate as well, so thanks for that Mr Kamsari.
And thanks for sharing your son's experience. Like you, I don't blame Ms Zhang for her heavy accent, but it does pose an extra hurdle for the pupils.
Thinking of a way to get around it, wonder if you have any ideas. :)
